While we are all in the midst of hurricane season, it pays to be prepared. Here are some tips to keep you and your loved ones safe during this dangerous time.
- Determine how to protect yourself during high winds/floods.
- If trapped in a building during flooding, stay in the highest part of the building
- Do not walk, swim, or drive through the flooded roads
- Listen for boil water advisories. Local authorities will let you know if your water is safe for drinking and bathing.
- During a water advisory, use only bottled, boiled, or treated water for drinking, cooking, etc.
- Throw out any food that was either damaged by water or stored in the refrigerator without power
By following these steps, you will be safer in the event that flooding occurs.
